Community

Central to our community and charitable work is our partnership with young people’s charity, The Mix. The Mix is an incredible multi-channel digital support service for under 25s. It works with young people from every corner and background of the UK, supporting those dealing with everyday issues to helping young people in crisis – from bullying, debt, drink and drugs, mental health, sexual health, homelessness, money, relationships – whatever a young person is facing The Mix are here to help them.

Dixons Carphone have supported The Mix since 2001 and our unique partnership has been recognised by winning the 2003 Charity Times Corporate Partnership Award and the 2006 Third Sector Excellence Award for Corporate Partnership. Dixons Carphone’s support and the incredible volunteering efforts of our employees have helped the small but mighty charity grow to support two million young people in the UK per year and we have ambitions to help this number grow every higher.

The challenges young people face are more complex and connected than ever before. To confront this, The Mix offers a unique combined digital service, giving support in the ways young people want, designed for young people by young people. They offer a brilliant programme of youth participation – through accredited youth volunteering programmes, research and insight hubs, co-creation and consultancy work and advocacy platforms – giving young people a voice on issues they care about.

Through the partnership Dixons Carphone, employees have fantastic opportunities to get involved in some amazing fundraising events, from 10k fun runs to overseas treks and the London Marathon. The outstanding contributions from our people and the incredible amounts of money we raise genuinely keep the Mix going and growing and ensure that millions of young people across the country have access to the support they need.

Royal support

Princes William, Harry and The Duchess of Cambridge have lent their support to The Mix, as part of their ‘Heads Together’ campaign, which aims to raise awareness of, and change, the negative perception of mental health. With the launch of our #ThereForMe campaign on 10th October, World Mental Health Day, Dixons Carphone will be working closely with the Royal Foundation to promote the Heads Together campaign and change the national conversation on mental health.
